58 Gin Navy Strength 70cl
A smooth and powerful edition from 58 Gin
58 Gin Navy Strength
The beginnings of 58 Gin were humble. They launched in Hackney (an area in North London, UK), with a vision of being a local, and sustainable micro-distillery. They really wanted to create a truue neighbourhood business, supporting the local area and being part of the community.
Whilst they have come far in terms of the business (winning numerous prestigious awards), they remain dedicated to the area they started - and along with their Gin School are now based in Hagerstone (just outside Hackney).
Their Navy Strength edition may be strong, but it's still one of the smoothest Navy Strength's on the market. This is their London Dry but "supercharged" to 57% abv.
The distillation method is at a low heat, and uses the same botanicals as in their London Dry (It contains 9 select botanicals, Juniper, Coriander Seed, Angelica Root, Orris Root, Cubeb Pepper, Egyptian Lemon, Pink Grapefruit, Bergamot and Vanilla). The distillation is done slow - which results in a bold and spicy but incredibly sippable gin.
The aroma of this gin is heavy on pine from the junipe - but joined with zingy citrus and woodier notes. On the palate, this has a creamy pepper spiciness with a big hit of citrus with lemon, pink grapefruit and bergamot. The citrus notes remain through to the finish, which is surprisingly smooth.

This is really versatile and will hold up to a lot of different mixers. It also works really well in cocktails.
For a classic mix, try with Fever-Tree's Soda Water, Lemonade or Indian Tonic. Take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour over 150 - 200ml of your chosen mixer and stir gently. Garnish with a slice of lemon.
