Abstinence Epilogue X Non-Alcoholic Spirit
With a desire to create a range of complex, sophisticated, and most importantly delicious non-alcoholic drinks, Abstinence have taken inspiration from the Cape Fynbos Floral Kingdom. This is a biodiverse region in the Western Cape of South Africa. Whilst it might be the smallest biological kingdom, its one of the most diverse in the world.
Part of the cycle within the Western Cape is the fact that at time, fires savage the region. Whilst this leaves a trail of destruction, it also ensures the propagation of the Cape Floral Kingdom, and therefore its continued survival.
This led to the inspiration behind the Epilogue X from Abstinence. The botanicals they use here are Smoked Peated & Blended Malts, Oak, Honeybush, Vanilla, Cassia, Cardamom, Clove and Helichrysum Petiolare (Impepho). This leaves a rich, amber liquid, full of smoky notes and reminiscent of dark spirits.
The aroma is full of smoked peat and spices. On the palate, the drink coats the mouth perfectly bringing full smoke flavours, as well as a faint honey flavour which lingers on the tongue. Sweet notes from the Honeybush, the toasted wood blend and subtle spices marry perfectly leading to a finish with a slight heat.

Perfect Serve
As a dark spirit, this blends perfectly when mixed with soda water or ginger ale. Take a rocks glass with a large cube of ice in it, and add 50ml of the Epilogue X. Add 50 - 100ml of either soda or ginger ale, a squeze of lime, and garnish with a slice of lime.
For those who prefer their drink a little sweeter, mix with cola instead. In the mix, this can form a good base for a non-alcoholic Old Fashioned Cocktail.
