Angostura Aromatic Bitters
Angostura bitters is a concentrated bitters based on gentian, herbs and spices, by House of Angostura in Trinidad and Tobago.
These legendary bitters were created by Dr Johann Gottlieb Benjamin Siegert, who was Surgeon General in Simon Bolivar's army in Venezuela. The drink was originally created for a use as a medicine, but survives to this day due to its wonderful richness and complexity that adds a great "extra dimension" to a drink.
Interesting Fact: The bitters were first produced in the town of Angostura, hence the name.
It's a unique flavour enhancer, and not just in alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. It can also be used to enhance flavours in many savoury or sweet food dishes.
It has a slight reddish, brown colour - and generally gives most drinks a pink tinge. The smell is uniquely aromatic, with a blend of herbs, fruits and spices. Taste wise, it is strongly aromatic with a bouquet of fruits, spices and herbs. Generally just a few dashes are all that is needed.

Perfect Serve
This can be used with gin, vodka or whisky to enhance the flavours, and also brings out an additional depth in rum.
Or how about trying the original Pink Gin? In a mixing glass filled with ice, add 60ml of Plymouth Gin, and 2 dashes of the bitters. Stir to chill the drink, and then strain into an old fashioned glass. Garnish with a twist of orange peel. (If this is a little strong for you, add a similar amount of water to the gin).
