Bertha's Revenge Sloe Gin
Made using an alcohol base which comes from milk, Bertha's Gin is certainly something unique! The milk itself comes from the dairy farmers in Cork, and from this whey alcohol is created and used as the base spirit. Along with this, natural well water and a mix of locally foraged, and sustainably sourced botanicals go together to create this gin.
To create their Sloe Gin, Bertha's Revenge use their original gin and steep sloe berries in it for several months. These sloe berries ripen during the autumn and are are then collected from the hedgerows located around Ballyvolane House and the region. Once the steeping process has completed, imparting the flavours into the gin, a sugar syrup is added to counter and balance the bitterness of the sloes.
According to the team at Ballyvolane House Spirits company, "A few sips of SLOE BERTHA will renew flagging enthusiasm when cold, wet and watching a match from the sidelines. Equally, it will serve to gird the loins when facing the final hill of the day". We certainly can't disagree with this!

Perfect Serve
This is a delicious treat enjoyed neat, but also works well mixed with a ginger ale, tonic, or even prosecco.
For a warming winter treat pour 50ml of the sloe gin into a glass and add 150ml of Fentimans Ginger Ale. This created a sweet, fruity spiced drink just perfect any time of the year, but particularly welcome on cold days.
