Created at the the beginning of the twentieth century by Hugo Ensslin, (head bartender at the Hotel Wallick in NY, USA) it was first published in 1916.
During prohibition, and due to the difficulty obtaining creme de violette (which gives the drink its distinct colour), the drink was almost lost.
With only a few ingredients, you too can make this beautiful and classic cocktail at home!
45 ml Aviation Gin
15 ml Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
5 ml Monin Crème de Violet La Liqueur
15 ml Lemon Juice
En om te garneren:
1 Luxardo Maraschino Cherry
Good to know: Any dry (unflavoured) gin would work with this cocktail, but.... its an Aviation!
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, and add the above ingredients. Shake well and strain into a cocktail glass.
Complete the cocktail with a garnish of a single maraschino cherry.
