Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri
Although the exact origin of the frozen strawberry daiquiri is not clear, the frozen daiquiri was born when Constantino "Constante" Ribalaigua Vert (owner and bartender of a small bar called Floridita, in Havana) added shaved ice to the mix and the use of a blender. The first published receipe for the strawberry daiquiri is said to be in the 1952 Electric Blender Recipe book by Mabel Stegner.
This rum cocktail is striking, with it's bright red appearance, and the fruity strawberries, sharp citrus and sweet syrup combine for a delicious drink.
Ingredients:
60ml White Rum (Bacardi is a great choice)
20ml Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
15ml Sugar Syrup
4-6 fresh or frozen strawberries.
Garnish:
Half a fresh strawberry or a slice of lime
Method:
Add all the ingredients into a blender with a small scoop of crushed ice (approx 30g), and blend until mixed. Pour or fine strain into a chilled glass and garnish with half a strawberry or a slice of lime.
