Pumpkin Spice Old Fashioned
Pumpkin spice seems to be the offical flavour for Autumn and is perfect for a Halloween twist to a classic Old Fashioned cocktail.
The Pumpkin Spiced Old Fashioned was created by Scott Allen, the bar manager at Copper Lounge in Los Angeles. Although he made his own homemade syrup featuring pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, brown sugar and vanilla extract, using the Monin syrup will speed it up for you.
You wouldn't usually muddle the ingredients in a Old Fashioned, but muddling the orange gives this cocktail a bright citrus flavour which cimpliments the bourbon. The orange bitters serve to add even more citrusy depth to this delicious drink.
Ingredients:
60ml Bourbon
15ml Monin Pumpkin Spice Syrup
2 dashes Angostura Orange Bitters
Splash of soda water (optional)
Orange wedge
for garnish:
Cinnamon stick
Method:
Muddle together the orange wedge, pumpkin spice syrup and orange bitters into an Old Fashioned glass. Add in the bourbon, a large ice cube and a dash of soda )if required). Mix together using a cinnamon stick to combine all the flavours.
Garnish with a cinnamon stick
