Bobby's Schiedam Dry Gin 1L
East meets west, with the traditions of Schiedam jenever blending with the best Indonesian botanicals and spices
Bobby's Schiedam Dry Gin
There is a great sense of family, quality and history to Bobby’s gin. Not only is it made in a family-owned distillery (Herman Jansen in Schiedam) dating back to 1777, but the recipe for the gin is inspired by a family recipe of the grandfather of Sebastiaan (Jacobus Alfons.. known as Bobby to his friends).
A bottle of this gin was discovered in 2012 by Sebastiaan. After hearing the story about his grandfather, and the unique Indonesian recipe, he was inspired to bring a gin of this quality to the world!
In conjunction with the Herman Jansen distillery, they worked tirelessly over a nearly two-year period to re-create and perfect a modern version of the family favourite, keeping all the history, blending the best of Indonesian botanicals and spices, keeping within the traditions of Schiedam jenever making.
The result was Bobby’s. And what a great result it is!
The eight organic botanicals are what make Bobby’s so special. Lemongrass, cloves, coriander, cubeb pepper, cinnamon, juniper, rose hips and fennel. All separately distilled. No additives, sugars or extractions. Simply pure taste. A fresh take on a timeless classic.
This results in a gin which is spicy and fragrant on the nose, with a fresh burst of citrus and herbs at the first sip along with a slight hum of pepper.
But they didn’t stop there…. The bottle itself takes inspiration from the history behind jenever making. The classic “kruik” bottle has been interpreted in a modern way, in brown and grey smoked glass. The east meets west theme continues here, with an Ikat pattern of traditional Indonesian design screen printed on the bottle.
Best served with lots of ice, premium tonic (Bobby’s recommend Fever-Tree Premium Indian Tonic Water) and garnish with a slice of orange and a few cloves to bring out and enhance the botanicals in the gin.
Waanzinnig!Heerlijke gin die fris begint waarna de kruiden omhoog komen. Zacht en pittig tegelijk
