The world famous gin in its iconic blue bottle.
Every drop contains 10 hand-selected botanicals which are carefully sourced from exotic locations around the world. These are then gently vapour infused to capture their bright, vibrant flavours, which gived Bombay Sapphire its premium edge.
Bombay Sapphire goes so far as to have a Master of Botanicals (Ivano Tonutti). Not only is his role to source these, but to also build relationships with the suppliers. In this way they can ensure top quality. The 10 botanicals are Almond, Angelica, Cassia, Coriander, Cubeb Pepper, Grains of Paradise, Juniper, Lemon, Licorice, and Orris Root. All of these blend perfectly, bringing something individual, to give a tantalizingly smooth flavour profile.
It has a predominant citrus nose, with the lemon from the botanicals dominating. Juniper is there as well, but its definitely not overpowering. There is a delicate sweetness and maybe surprisingly a hint of a floral note at the end. It's quite an aromatic, which isnt too juniper forward, which differentiates it from typical London Dry style gins.
In the mouth it covers the tongue slowly. It begins pleasningly mild, introducing the flavours slowly. Once the mouth is full covered though, the tastes begin to shine, a slight heat and gently spicy lemon which are followed by floral, yeat earty notes. Juniper is obviously there (it is gin after all), but its on the edge... not overpowering and only really comes through towards the end. The finish is really pleasant. It has a little heat, some herbal flavours from coriander, juniper and nicely, a really balanced citrus note.
This works perfectly with Fever-Tree Clementine Tonic. Both complement the flavours of the other. Garnish with a slice of orange, and a stick of cinnamon for a refreshing and slightly different gin and tonic.
Try a classic G&T with a ginger twist, bringing all the bold flavour of Bombay Sapphire and ginger together. Mix 50ml of the gin with 100ml of a neutral tonic (such as Fentimans Premium Indian Tonic). Gently stir to combine. Squeeze a wedge of orange into the glass, which accentuates the citrus notes in the gin. Add to the glass as a garnish, with a few thin slices of fresh ginger
