Brouwerij Verhofstede Hop Jenever
The history of Brouwerij Verhofstede dates back to 1885, and Stefanie De Jaegher (who later married Julien Verhofstede). Initially Beer was brewed, but in the 1960's a move into spirits occured. Now with over 130 years of experience, and four generations of the same family they continue to create a range of delicious drinks.
The Hop Jenever from Brouwerij Verhofstede has been in production since 1961. It has been prepared according to an old family recipe, which uses wild hops grown in their Verhofstede's own field.
Whilst perhaps more commonly known in beer making, this herb ensures the jenever has a delicious velvey finish to it.
Interesting fact: Hop Jenever is now recognised as a Flemish Regional Product by VLAM.

Perfect Serve
Delicious served on its own, or mixed with a tonic, ginger mixer or apple juice, this is a versatile drink.
How about trying a variant on the Moscow Mule? Fill a mule mug or large glass with crushed ice. In a shaker or mixing glass filled with ice add 50ml of Jenever and 10ml of lime juice and shake or stir well for at least 20 seconds. Strain the cocktail into the mule mug. Fill the mug with ginger ale (around 150 - 200ml) and finish with a lime slice and a sprig of mint.
