A classic gin, with a delicious Colombian twist!
Description
Dictador Colombian Aged Gin Ortodoxy
After many visits to London, where Dario Parra (former President of Dictador) enjoyed many Gin & Tonic's - he eventually returned to Colombia and decided he should create a Colombian Gin. Hence Ortodoxy was created.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, bearing in mind Dictador is primarily a rum distillery, the base alcohol used in the production of Ortodoxy is from sugar cane. They distil each botanical seperately before they blend, and then age in oak barrels (previously used to hold their rum). This gin spends a luxurious thirty-five weeks in the barrels, before a multi stage filtration process is used to leave a crystal clear, deliciously flavoured gin.
What we partocularly love about this gin is the mouth-feel. It feels thick, oily, and coats the mouth beautufully. This really helps to impart the flavours from the botanicals.
On the nose this gin is quite complex. A hint of piney juniper, a freshness from mint leaves, and a sweetness from blueberries and citrus peel - all beautifully brought together with warming spice, ginger and cinnamon. It definitely entices you into tasting it!
On the palate this is bursting with flavours, smooth and has a delicate berry sweetness. It is however definitely a dry gin. Juniper persists through the drink, but entices and doesnt overwhelm. Mid way through the citrus elements make themselves known along with hints of warm spices. The fruit sweetness comes through too - but certainly doesnt make this a sweet gin. Think tart, but ripe blueberries. It finishes with a touch of pepper, and ginger - which blend with a little orange - but still with the pine from the juniper.

Perfect Serve
Deliciously smooth, and with a really nice mouthfeel - this can easily be enjoyed on the rocks garnished with a slice of lemon. But for a longer drink, mix with The Artisan Drinks Co. Indian Tonic. In a large glass add 50ml of gin, and pour over 150ml of the tonic. Stir gently, and garnish with a slice of lemon.

rich, thick flavourThe only one we drink almost straight with only some ice. Great company due to the flavour. Perfect balance of fresh herbs, sweetness and a touch of bitter. Pay a bit more to feel rich.
