Gordon's Sloe Gin 70cl
A deliciously fruity, slightly sweet adaptation of Gordon's gin
Gordon's Sloe Gin
First launched in 1908 Gordon's Sloe gin has a rich history to match its taste.
Relaunched in 2004, the latest recipe appeals to the modern gin and liqueur drinker. It's production is relatively simple, allowing wild sloe berries to steep in gin whilst adding just the right amount of sugar. It is the fruit which gives this gin its deep (but clear) crimson red colour, and certainly makes it stand out in the crowd.
The result is a delicious drink. It maintains the classic dryness of gordon's gin, but marries this perfectly with a fruity, cassis like sweetness.
The aroma greets you straight away when opening the bottle. A sweet, jam like hit of raspberry, a hint of blackberry, yet there is more. Almonds, cloves, and obviously the piney aroma of juniper meet you as well.
The taste is perhaps as you would expect. It is sweet, a little tart and dry, plenty of fruit... with a slight addition of almost christmas like flavours from almonds and cloves.
Don't be fooled though. This is delicious year round, and certainly isnt a winter only drink!
This is perfect served with either a neutral tonic like Schweppes Premium Tonic and garnished with forest berries. Or for more warmth in the flavours, try with Fentimans Ginger Ale, and garnish with a slice of fresh ginger. With both, serve over plenty of ice.
