Isle of Harris Gin 70cl
The award-winning Isle of Harris Gin is made in their home village of Tarbert, every drop distilled in a small copper gin still known as 'The Dottach', before being bottled and sealed by hand.
9 carefully chosen ingredients, each lend their own individual characteristics to the recipe. The starring role comes from the local, hand-harvested Sugar Kelp and shows the island's deep connections to the sea. Local diver and seaweed expert Lewis Mackenzie gathers the magical seaweed from the local sea-lochs in a sustainable harvest. He picks the gold-green fronds from hidden underwater forests in the springtime before they are dried locally. When there is no 'r' in the month, the kelp is left to recover and grow, ensuring this vital local habitat for sea life is not harmed.
Isle of Harris is refreshing on the palate with a good balance between the bitter juniper and pine and the sweet fruit flavours of mango, grapefruit and orange. A green herb flavour of crushed coriander develops and as the juniper and citrus fade away, sweet vanilla and black pepper remain with a gentle reminder of the sea.
Sip Isle of Harris Gin neat to appreciate the smooth and luxurious spirit on its own.
Add ice, tonic water and a slice of grapefruit for the perfect G&T.
