Hendrick's Lunar Gin
Keeping similarities to their original gin, this is a gin which, it is said, was "conceived beneath the celestial light of the moon". From this, it takes on an alluring complexity and a delightful warmth.
This is the second limited edition release from Ms Lesley Gracie's "cabinet of curiosities".
She describes her inspiration behind the gin as “It’s a feeling. That feeling when it’s a real dark, calm night, there’s a clear sky and the stars are out. I like that feeling and wanted to bottle that sensation of sharing stories under the stars. In the still of the night, you can get all sorts of smells, there are certain flowers that only release their scent under the light of the moon. There is a peculiar sensory attachment to scents at night, your body doesn’t react to aromas in the same way as during daylight, the darkness changes things, including how you respond to those around you, everything feels different at night.”
Made in small batches of only 550 litres at a time, this takes the signature blend of 11 botanicals and infusions of rose and cucumber, adding iadditional flavours. Deeply floral with aromatic notes on the nose, and just a hint of citrus, the flavour carries through with this. Still distinctly floral, but with a delicate spice.
The overall result is intruiging, warm yet floral, and really goes remind of a warm summer evening under the moon.

Perfect Serve
With such a special, and limited edition of Hendrick's, we have three perfect serves. With all of these, it is best suited night-sipping, moon gazing and during any other sensible mode of contemplation!
For a classic Hendrick's Lunar & Tonic, mix 50ml of the gin with 150ml of a premium tonic in a glass filled with ice. We love this with Three Cents Tonic water, but any neutral tonic will work. Garnish with 3 thin slices of cucumber and a twist of black pepper.
For shorter, and stronger drink, try a Starry Sky Old Fashioned. In a mixing glass filled with ice, pour 50ml of Hendrick's Lunar, a dash of Angostura bitters, and a dash of Angostura Orange bitters. Stir and then strain into a rocks glass over ice. Garnish with a twist of orange.
Lastly, a Moonlight Buck. In a highball glass filled with ice, combine 50ml of Hendrick's Lunar, 15ml of lemon juice and top up with Ginger Ale (we like Double Dutch Ginger Ale for this one). Garnish with a twist of lemon, and 3 thin slices of cucumber.
