Description
Le Gin de Christian Drouin
With the expertise of a family of craft distillers behind it, Le Gin promises a gin for connoisseurs.
With the increasing use of Calvados (for which Christian Drouin is famous) in cocktail bars, Guillaume Drouin wanted to create a gin recipe which complement the flavours found in Calvados. A balance between over 30 different cider apples, and juniper.
Through a lengthy process of trial and error, 8 botanicals were finally selected. With the exception of the juniper, these all fell within the "aroma universe" of calvados.
These 8 botanicals are juniper, Brazillian ginger, Madagascan vanilla, lemon, cardamom, indonesian cinnamon, almonds and rose.
The cider alcohol spirit base used in its creation gives this gin a roundness, crispness and delicacy. The rose and lemon assist with the delicate profile of the gin, whilst the ginger, vanilla, cinnamon and almond give a smooth yet spicy body. The cardamom gives a roundness in the mouth, and together the juniper and apple compliment one another with heavy high notes of crisp pine.

Perfect Serve
The complexity and depth of this gin ensure it can easily be enjoyed neat, or over ice. However, we believe the flavours come to the fore better when assisted by the quinine and carbonation in tonic. We particularly like this with Double Dutch Indian Tonic.
In a large glass filled with ice, add 50ml of the gin and top up with 150 - 200ml of the tonic. Garnish with a couple of thin slices of fresh green apple, and a thin slice of fresh ginger.
