Le Gin de Christian Drouin - Pira 70cl
A limited edition pear based gin from the Christian Drouin family
Description
Le Gin de Christian Drouin - Pira
With the expertise of a family of craft distillers behind it, Le Gin promised a gin for connoisseurs, and with its multiple awards, it certainly delivered.
Made with the same principles behind their original Le Gin, their new Limited Edition Pira blend is dedicated to the second emblamatic fruit of Normandy - the Pear. Only 8550 bottles of this delicious gin have been made and released for sale.
With the pear at the centre of the recipe (specifically a Normandy perry pear, called Domfront), Le gin combine with juniper, vanilla, lemon, black pepper and Iris root. (Iris' are the flower that often adorn the roofs of many Normandy cottages).
It was the perry pear (and specifically a variety typical of the Domfront region, the Domfront pear) that was chosen for a number of reasons. This is a small pear with a delicate aroma which perfectly combines combining acidity and tannins.
The resulting Pira gin gives a delicious aroma of white fruits, black pepper and iris. As with the rest of the family, there is always the aromatic intensity that characterises Drouin's signature gins.

Perfect Serve
This can easily be enjoyed neat or as a gin and tonic. We like it with a classic tonic, like Fever-Tree Indian Tonic, or Fever-Tree Elderflower Tonic for a sweeter drink.
Take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of gin. Gently pour in 50ml of the gin and add 150 - 200ml of your chosen tonic. Garnish with a thin slice of pear or elderflower.
