Scapegrace Black Gin 70cl
The worlds first naturally black gin delivers a fruity and mildy spiced gin
Scapegrace Black Gin
With the "All Blacks" being known the world over for their Rugby prowess, it should come as no surprise that Scapegrace launched an an black bottle, which contained an all black gin!
With their Black Gin, Scapegrace have created the world's first naturally black gin. The dark hue of the gin when poured is due to the unique blend of botanicals used in its creation. No artificial colourings, or flavours here! These botanicals include the aronia berry, butterfly pea, saffron, pineapple and sweet potato (plus a few others).
This is a surprising gin, not least because when tonic is added, the botanicals in the gin react, making it change to shades of red and purple.
The aroma of this gin is something quite special and is quite fruity, with a citrus note of lemon up front. There is a hint of spicy juniper to it as well. On the palete its full bodied, with a luxurious velvety feel. A hint of freshness from mint, tropical fruits and underlying all of this are the botanical herbaceous elements.
Overall a surprising gin, which will appeal to the eye as well as delivering on taste.

A delicious gin on its own, and full of flavour, and we recommend this particularly with another New Zealand export, East Imperial Tonic Water. In a large glass filled with ice, add 50ml of the gin, and gently pour over 150ml of the tonic. Garnish with a couple of thin slices of green apple.
