Tarquin's Cornish Dry Gin 70cl
Distilled with 12 botanicals including some locally foraged on the wild Cornish coast
Tarquin's Cornish Dry Gin
Tarquin's is an independent family run distillery based in Cornwall (a county in the South-West of the UK). They pride themselves in creating distinctive, award-winning gins just that "little bit differently". creating some truly delicious gins.
With their signature gin, they have given a contemporary twist on a classic London dry gin. They distille with 12 botanicals sourced from across the globe and locally foraged on the wild Cornish coast.
The botanicals which make this gin so special are: Juniper, Coriander Seed, Liquorice root, Angelica root, Orris Root, Green Cardamon, Cinnamon, Bitter Almonds, Fresh Citrus Peel and Violets.
When the distillation of these is completed, every single bottle is individually hand-filled, hand-labelled and dipped into a slow-cooker filled with paraffin wax to seal. Its then stamped with their distinctive Puffin logo, given batch tasting notes and is finally individually hand-signed.
As can be expected from a "Cornish Dry Gin", the aroma of this gin is quite classic with defined pine notes from the juniper. However there is more, with hints of citrus, a touch of spice and a light floral note.
With the taste, the juniper packs a punch at the front of the palate. This then leads into sherbert like citrus notes, bringing hints of citrus groves. Whilst this gives a crisp and fresh taste, there is a hint of warmth from the cinnamon and cardamom and a hint of floral flavour. With the finish you are again greeted with a classic juniper lead, joined by a mild sweetness from citrus and a delicate spice.

This works wth most premium tonics, but we particularly enjoy this with Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic Water. In a large copa glass filled with ice, pour 50ml of the gin. Gently top up with 150ml of the tonic, and stir gently. Garnish with a slice (or wedge) of grapefruit and a sprig of fresh thyme.
