Willem's Wermoed Original 75cl
The worlds first Dutch Sweet Vermouth, inspired by Amsterdams Hortus Botanicus
Description
Willem's Wermoed Original
In creating the first Dutch Vermouth, the creators took inspiration from Amsterdam's Hortus Botanicus. This medicinal garden is one of the oldest in the world, and has a collection of thousands of herbs and indigenous plants. It was these that inspired their signature bittersweet blend.
The name Willem? This was inspired by the great explorers who shaped the Dutch Golden Age of the 17th century. And then Wemoed is simply the Dutch for Wormwood, one of the key botanicals that gives vermouth its characteristic bittersweet taste.
Their Original is a rich sweet vermouth, which uses 24 hand-picked botanicals in it's creation. These include pine tops, wild thyme and even cherry stems. These are all infused in a carefully selected base of Spanish wine which has been aged for a number of years in oak barrels.
The vermouth gives enticing aromas of dried fruits, figs, and warm spices. On the palate there is a sweetness, which, as a vermouth, develops into a dry finish with a delicate spicy bitterness.

Perfect Serve
Delicious enjoyed on its own with ice, or mixed with lemonade or tonic (we recommend it with Three Cents Tonic Water).
However it also works really well in the mix as a cocktail component. How about trying a 50/50 Manhattan (a perfect after-dinner drink)? In a mixing glass filled with ice add 30ml of the original vermouth, 30ml of bourbon (we liked Jim Beam), and a dash of both orange and original bitters. Stir well and strain into a cocktail glass.
