Monin Violet Syrup
As a young man (only 19), George Monin started selling branded wines and spirits in 1912. He chose the slogan "Passion for quality" and this is the ethos behind the company to this day. A french company, it is still family owned, and it's now the third generation leading the business.
The violet has been used throughout history, for a variety of reasons. The Romans used it for nedicinal purposes, as a pomade or herbal tea. It was then popularised further during the renaissance period as a perfume.
It's now becoming popular in the culinary world too. The strongly scented (and edible) flower, is a great addition to fruit salads, made into a jelly - or crystalised to decorate deserts.
Monin have captured the intense violet notes, as well as the colour - allowing an elevation to your drinks (whether alcoholic or not).
