Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur

First produced in the Loire Valley (France) in the 1600's, Chambord is now a world-renowned raspberry liqueur.

It uses a three stage process to ensure it keeps its unmistakable velvety, smooth and blackberry flavours.

It begins with the first stage, where the juice is extracted from ripe blackberries, raspberries and blackcurrants. These juices are then mixed with fine french spirits, and left to rest for four weeks. This ensures the maximum flavours are imbued in the drink.

The second stage results in a total of six weeks, and a double infusion for the berries. The berries are pressed, ensuring all of the juices are removed. This leaves a rich, silky infusion base.

The final stage takes the berry infusion, and blends it with the remaining flavours. All natural black raspberries, various other varieties of raspberry, XO cognac, Madagascan vanilla, Moroccan citrus peels and finally delicate honey. Careful blending of these different flavours ensures the end result is the Chambord Liqueur.

Interesting fact: The bottle is based on a Globus Cruciger, a Christian Orb symbol which was used during the middle ages.

Perfect Serve

This is a really versatile (and delicious) drink, and can be enjoyed simply when mixed with soda water, a plain tonic or lemonade. However it really comes into its own when combined in a delicious cocktail.

Try a Chambord Bramble. Take a tumbler glass and fill with ice. Pour in 30ml of lemon juice, 30ml of a citrus or london dry gin (we like Harahorn Gin), and 30ml of Chambord. Stir gently and garnish with a wedge of Lemon.

Or how about a Chambord Gin Fizz? Take a large wine glass and add 30ml of gin (pink gin works well) and 30ml of Chambord. Add a few ice cubes and then fill the glass with lemonade. Garnish with a couple of blackberries, and a slice of lemon.
