Dik & Schil Circulaire Gin
What started as a university project for 3 students, has developed into Dik&Schil, a flourishing business with sustainability at its core. Their tasty drinks give a second life to the leftover coffee grounds and orange peels from the hospitality industry that would usually end up in the bin.
‘‘We want to show that sustainability can also be fun and that circularity can lead to fantastic products’’ – They have definitely achieved that.
The Dik&Schil Circulaire Gin takes unwanted orange peels from hospitality outlets and the pruned cuttings from Koppert Cress (suppliers of freshly-sprouted seedlings, aromatic edible leaves and flowers) and turns them into a unique, soft and spicy gin. The residue leaves are perfect in combination with the orange, each bringing something different to the mix. Kaffir Lime leaves enhance the recipe with their strong citrus taste, Cardamom leaves add body and a warming taste, whilst the Shiso leaf with its strong, mysterious flavour (reminiscent of mint, basil, tarragon, cilantro, cinnamon and anise) adds character. The velvety oils, citrus and anise combine for a taste like no other.

Perfect Serve
Dik&Schil Circulaire Gin is soft enough to enjoy neat.
For a refreshing G&T, fill a glass with ice and add 50ml Circulaire Gin. Add 150ml elderflower tonic water (we like Fentimans with ours) and garnish with thinly sliced cucumber and a slice of grapefruit.
For the cocktail lovers, combine with another of Dik&Schil’s great spirits in a Negroni. Add equal quantities (30ml) of Circular Gin, Orangecello and Campari to a tumbler with ice, and a slice of orange to garnish.
