Description

Gastro Gin Gastronomic Gin

Created in conjunction with Michelin star chefs, and Master Distiller John de Lange from Onder de Moonpjes distillery in Schiedam, this is a gin truly made by foodies!

Good to know: This gin was previously known as Gin and Jonnie Gastro Gin, after the Michelin Chef Jonnie Boer (who was the youngest two star Michelin chef in the Netherlands - later receiving a third star, only the second in the Netherlands)

They wanted to create a gin which would capture their favourite flavours. They wanted it fresh, and a true and genuine taste sensation. In doing this, they utilised a daring mix of five different peppers which they sourced from all corners of the world.

They utilse some "classic" gin botanicals; juniper, caraway, cardamom, licorice and angelica root. They then add fennel flowers and seeds, and to ensure a real citrus element verbena, grapefruit, lemon and orange peel. These, along with the five peppers (Jamaica pepper, Szechuan pepper, Voatsiperifery peppe, Long Pepper and Sarawak Pepper) ensure this is a truly unique gin.

Whilst there is a profusion of peppers in this gin, the initial flavours are all about the citrus. Both on the nose, and on the palate. If you're a fan of citrus gins, we think you'll love this one! As the flavour builds through the tasting, the citrus gives way (a little), to some almost aniseed flavours, and then the peppers greet you. These deliver a good blast of spicy warmth, which compliments and rounds out the refreshing citrus.

Perfect Serve

Made to be enjoyed as an aperitif and with food, this is a really versatile gin - so the creators encourage you to experiment.

For a really delicious gin & tonic, pair with Fever-Tree Elderflower Tonic. In a large glass filled with ice, add 50ml of the gin. Pour over 150ml of tonic and stor gently. Garnish with a slice of lemon and a few peppercorns.
