Old Salt Vlieland Cranberry Gin
Hailing from Vlieland (one of the West Frisian Islands), it's with no suprise that this gin takes it's name, and inspiration from the sea.
An "Old Salt" is a mariner, or old sailor who keeps oral traditions and stories alive through a mixture of truth and fiction. Generally this enhances the reputation of the "Old Salt", his companions, forbears and traditions of the sea-faring community.
Using a mix of botanicals found on Vlieland, and those which compliment and enhance, a rich flavoured gin has been produced. As well as the juniper found in all gins, Cranberries, Samphire and Sea Lettuce have been meticulously blended in its creation.
The addition of the cranberry perfectly compliments and balances the salty and sweet flavors of samphire and sea lettuce. An absolutely intruiging combination - one which will have your taste buds working overtime to pick out the different and delicious flavours.
You'll easily imagine yourself the island of origin; Vlieland.
Perfect Serve
Enjoy slowly, sipped over ice and with good conversation. Or for a longer, more refreshing gin - try with a neutral tonic such as The Artisan Drinks Co. Classic London Tonic. This will ensure that the unique flavours within the gin are not overwhelmed. Take a large glass filled with ice, and add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour over 150 - 200ml of the tonic, and garnish with a few fresh (or frozen) cranberries.

G&T gin onlyAls een puur drinker is deze niet echt aan te raden. Te weinig body om hem als puur te drinken (jep niet iedereen drinkt G&T ;-) ) . Dus voor G&T drinkers een aanrader, voor puur drinkers niet.

Spannende ginAl een tijdje zoekende naar de perfecte gin stuitten we in Vlieland op Old Salt. Het verhaal achter deze gin en de kracht van het eiland vind je terug in de fles. De licht zilte smaak is spannend. Old Salt maakt de tongen los. Wij hebben onze gin gevonden en drinken hem sindsdien. Met mate ;-).

Fris en zoet, en ontzettend mooi.Deze gin is echt een aanrader! Hij geeft je bittere tonic een zoete ondertoon, maar is ook echt mega geschikt voor een cocktail.
En het heeft ook nog een leuk kleurtje die, als je het met tonic mengt, er parelmoer achter uit komt te zien.
Heerlijk, om het eiland gevoel gewoon thuis in m'n glas te hebben!Posted on

Echt zo lekkerEind juni waren we op Vlieland voor een lang weekend en kwamen we deze nieuwe gin tegen op een terras. Was iets lokaals en werd aangeraden. Echt zo lekker was die dat we elke middag eentje hebben gedronken. Gelukkig was de gin bij de lokale slijter te koop en hebben we een fles mee naar huis genomen. Die is nu al op, we kregen via via te horen dat deze gin bij ginfling te koop zou zijn.
