The Artisan Gin
This Croatian gin takes its inspiration from the Croatian countryside.
To create this premium London Dry gin, The Artisan carefully selected 14 different botanicals, where possible, from Croatia. Almonds, elderflower, olive leaves - and also Iris root (the national flower of Croatia) are just some of these.
They prepare each botanical differently, to ensure the maximum flavour can be extracted - before allowing them to macerate for 72 hours. This is then filtered before going through a vacuum distillation process. This process lowers the boiling point of alcohol, ensuring that none of the flavours are impacted by high temperature distillation. This means more finesse, and delicate flavours are found within this gin. The final liquid is then rested for four weeks.
Lastly.... this Croatian gin is then bottled. But again, not into just any bottle, but one specifically designed for it.
The aroma of this gin is a complex, subtle blend of fresh citrus notes, which are balanced by mild spice and floral notes (in particular lavender). On the palate, this has a distinct, dry flavour. The juniper is not hidden, but is perfectly balanced with refreshing zesty citrus, and coriander. As the flavours develop in the mouth, the more floral notes come through, in particular lavender and elderflower. The overall experience is multi-layered, subtle, and delicious.
Perfect Serve
This is a subtle, delicate gin - and so needs a tonic to match. We would suggest either Lobsters Tonic Water or an Elderflower Tonic (which enhances the floral notes in the gin). Take a large glass filled with ice, and pour in 50ml of gin. Gently pour over 150 - 200ml of your chosen mixer, and garnish with a slice of lime.
