Tarquin's is an independent family run distillery based in Cornwall (a county in the South-West of the UK). They pride themselves in creating distinctive, award-winning gins just that "little bit differently", creating some truly delicious gins.

Their Cornish Pastis is a cornish take on the classic French anissed spirit, and is the first to be made in the UK.

The botanicals which make this pastis so special are: Turkish Aniseed and Fennel Seed, Star Anise, Liquorice Root, Angelica Root, Green Cardamom, Cinnamon, Orris Root, Juniper, Citrus Peel (Orange, Lemon and Grapefruit), as well as Gorse Flowers sourced from the Atlantic cliffs near the distillery.

The result is a crystal clear aniseed spirit, just waiting to be enjoyed.

On the nose this has distinct, and bold aromas with a big initial hit of liquorice. Brightness follows with zesty orange peel, and fresh herbal notes. On the palate this has sweet fennel seed and earthy liquorice. A hint of heat from cracked black pepper comes through, and follows with fennel and orange blossom. The finish is full, and grants a delicious creaminess to the mouth. It lingers with a herbal complexity, freshness from the citrus and a gentle sweet spice.

Perfect Serve

Easily enjoyed on its own, or as the french drink it with water (generally 1 part Pastis to 4 parts water). However it can also be enjoyed in the mix.

Try a Tarquin's Cornish Pastiche for something a deliciously different. Take a take a tall glass and add a handful of mint leaves, and half a lime cut into quarters. Gently crush to release the juice and oils. Pour in 25ml of the Pastis, and fill the glass to the top with ice. Fill the glass with apple juice, stir well and garnish with a couple of fresh mint leaves.
