What started as a university project for 3 students, has developed into Dik&Schil, a flourishing business with sustainability at its core. Their tasty drinks give a second life to the leftover coffee grounds and orange peels from the hospitality industry that would usually end up in the bin.
‘‘We want to show that sustainability can also be fun and that circularity can lead to fantastic products’’ – They have definitely achieved that.
Dik&Schil Bakkie Pleur Koffielikeur is made using coffee grounds, exclusively from Moyee Coffee. Not only is this coffee delicious, its Fair Trade and Fair Chain (where the roasting and packaging of the beans is done in the country of origin, giving more income to the local community). Using extra dark roasted coffee grounds, this coffee liqueur has the full taste of coffee and has a hint of orange, with the addition of leftover orange peels, from making fresh orange juice. There is delicious nuttiness and a subtle smokiness, which add depth, and a softness from vanilla.
