Without juniper, gin just isn’t gin, and without the Juniper Tree, we’d have no juniper. Then there’s the Juniper Bird, which is vital for the survival of the Juniper Tree (and vice versa). After feeding from the tree, and digesting the berries, the discarded seeds germinate, starting the cycle of new Juniper Trees once again.
Juniper Bird Schiedam Dry Gin is not only a celebration of the relationship between the bird and the tree but sparks a childhood memory for the maker of Juniper Bird. As a young boy, he would watch the Juniper Birds feasting on the Juniper Trees in the coastal village of Selinus, where he grew up. This young entrepreneur, started his first business at just 8 years old, foraging for oregano and wild pistachio to sell at the local market, so its no surprise why these unusual botanicals are included in the gin recipe.
This delicious gin has a herbal and nutty taste, With juniper taking the lead, it is complimented by the unique and savoury flavours of the oregano and wild pistachio. With lemongrass, cardamom, coriander seeds and angelica root, Juniper Bird is complex and smooth, full of intriguing flavours and definitely one to try.
Perfect Serve
Mix with Thomas Henry Botanical Tonic Water and garnish with oregano for a delicious G&T.
For the cocktail lovers, then a classic Dirty Martini is perfect. Stir together 50ml Juniper Bird Gin, 10ml Dry Vermouth and 10ml Olive Brine (you can use a few dashes of olive bitters if you prefer) with ice. Strain into a chilled glass and garnish simply with an olive or 2 on a cocktail stick.
