Hoxton Banana Rum
With their gins Hoxton like to break convention.... and they've not gone far from this ethos with their amazing Banana Macerated Caribbean Rum.
They've taken inspiration from Island Living all the way back to the east end of London to create this rum. They've not held back making this with love and passion.
They use fresh bananas which have been macerated for five weeks with only the finest of Caribbean rums.
This creates an amazing rum.... on th enose there is the distinct molasses rum character, but this is joined by a delicious gentle banana note. The taste is something else though (in a very good way!). The banana is very much front and centre, and lingers through the whole drink. It's smooth, with just a slightly off-dry almost tropical fruit note.
This is an amazing rum, and can really be enjoyed on its own. But if you're in a Caribbean mood, how about trying a Hoxton Banana Rum Punch?
In a cocktail shaker, add 15ml fresh lime juice, 30ml Monin Sugar Syrup, 50ml of the rum, a dash or two of Angostura Bitters, 75ml of water and some grated nutmeg. Shake vigorously, and then serve over ice with a wedge of lime.
