Loopuyt Dry Gin 70cl
With a blend of 12 carefully selected botanicals, this is a deliciously citrus and mildy spiced gin with a floral note
Loopuyt Dry Gin
Traditionally London Dry gins are heavy on the juniper flavours, and any other botanicals play a background or supporting role. With Loopuyt, which is a "New Western" gin there are several seperate botanical flavours. Together with the juniper this gives Loopuyt a deliciously complex aroma and taste.
This is a Dutch gin, which was created in 2013. It is distilled in the traditional home of gin and genever in the Netherlands - Schiedam (near Rotterdam).
In total there are 12 different botanicals which are expertly blended to create the unique taste of Loopuyt. These 12 botanicals are Juniper, Lavender, Orange & Grapefruit Peel, Cinchona, Nutmeg, Raspberry, Cardamon, Coriander, Inca berries, Mulberries and Goji Berries. Each of which gives their own character to the gin, contributing to the whole with none of them being too prevalent in taste or aroma.
When blended, these create a perfect gin which has a spicy aroma, with a hint of floral notes from the lavender. The taste opens as it is drunk, with notes of grapefruit and citrus coming through. A mild spice plays on the tongue but doesnt overpower. Overall this is an exceptionally well balanced gin, where the juniper isn't too over-powering or too prominent.

This makes a deliciously refreshing Gin and Tonic, especially when mixed with Loopuyt Tonic.
In a large glass filled with ice, add 50ml of the gin and 150 - 200ml of tonic (to your preference). Garnish with a stick of lemongrass (this is well worth the effort, as it really enhances the flavours in the drink).
This also works exceptionally well with Loopuyt Rose Lemonade, and garnished with a sliced strawberry. For a more spiced drink, try with a ginger beer instead, and garnish with a slice of green apple.
