Marula Gin Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish
The Marula tree grows in Namibia, and is also known as the Elephant tree. Elephants love to eat the fruit, but when in their stomach it ferments and makes them just a little drunk! (Apparently monkey's and giraffes like it too for a similar reason!).
Taking inspiration from this, as well as the delicious flavour of the fruit, a number of Belgian gin connoiseurs decided to create a new gin, and Marula Gin was born.
To celebrate their anniversary (5 years since the creation of the first Marula Gin), Marula have created a special edition cask finish gin. They took their original, and delicious Marula gin, and allowed it to rest in casks previously filled with Oloroso Sherry.
The original Marula Gin contains the marula fruit as well as other carefully selected botanicals (juniper berries from Tuscany, lavender from Provence, rose petals from Bulgaria, coriander from India and orange blossom from Spain). Resting in the barrels allows the flavours to develop further, and take on additional qualities.
On the nose there is the typical marula aroma, but now with a touch of fruit from blackberries and raisins, as well as a woody walnut.
On the palate there is again additional qualities imparted from the sherry, with true nutty flavours coming through. This works together wonderfully with the natural fruitiness of Marula gin creating a perfect balance of flavours.

Perfect Serve
This gin is truly versatil, yet works exceptionally well when savoured simply on the rocks.
Combined with a neutral tonic the carbonation brings additional flavours to the palate. Take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour over 150ml of your chosen tonic and stir gently. Garnish with a thin slice of orange.
