Porter's Orchard Gin

Created from a shared passion for "creating better drinks", Porter's is the brainchild of Alex, Ben and Josh - the founders.

They create their range of gin's in their micro-distillery, which is located beneath a cocktail bar in Aberdeen (Scotland). Their gins are created with a vacuum still, which allows for distilling at a lower temperature. This ensures that the aromatics from the more delicate botanicals do not get destroyed. In this way, a greater range of flavours can be infused in their gins.

For their Orchard gin, they took inspiration from the flavour profiles of french wines (the blanc de blanc champagne in particular). The intense fruitiness in champagnes chardonnay grape in particular played a role. 

They utilise cold-distilled green apples and pears, and combine with their classic juniper base. Then, to enhance the mouthfeel and flavour profile further, they blend with a small amount of soybean distillate. This gives an intense buttery, nutty and biscuit like qualities to the gin.

Overall this is a deliciously fruity gin, with a creamy / buttery mouthfeel, a strong backbone of juniper and accents of sweet apples and floral pear flavours.

Perfect Serve

This works exceptionally well when combined with Fentimans Connoiseurs Tonic Water. Take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour over 150 - 200ml of the tonic and stir gently. Garnish with a slice of green apple.

It also works well in the mix, and in particular in a French 75 Cocktail.
