Scapegrace Blood Orange Gin 70cl
A delicious citrus and fruit infused gin from New Zealand's Scapegrace distillery
Description
Scapegrace Blood Orange Gin
Whilst what's inside is delicious, it's the bottle that is the first thing you notice about Scapegrace Gin. The bottle is deliberate. It's a modern take on the original Genever bottles from over 200 years ago.
If gin-makers from then were making gin today Scapegrace believe they would make it like they do, because they make it like they did... with a respect for the history. The bottle is a respectful acknowledgement to everything they taught them.
The inspiration behind their Blood Orange edition is the Blood Moon. This astronomical event (where the moon turns a reddish colour) has long captured the imagination of humans.
Using New Zealand Blood Oranges, raspberries and makrut limses (along with more traditional botanicals), Scapegrace have created a citrus and fruity premium gin - with a tropical orange colour.
The aroma brings the signature orange notes, as well as citrus leaf and hints of berry. On the palate the flavours open up, and the orange jumps to the front. This gently fades, allowing the juniper and fresh mint flavours to come through. It finishes dry, bring a touch or peppery spice with lingering citrus and tropical fruit notes.

This work perfectly in a classic gin & tonic, either with a neutral tonic - or an orange one (Fentimans Connoisseurs Tonic or their Valencian Orange work perfectly. 50ml of gin, 150 - 200ml of tonic and plenty of ice. Of course, garnish with a slice or two of orange.
Or perhaps try a Tarroco Spritz Cocktail? In a stemmed glass filled with ice cubes add 30ml of the gin, 20ml of Campari and 10ml of Dry vermouth. Top up the glass with Connoisseurs Tonic or simply soda water.
