Angostura Orange Bitters 10cl
A complex blend of tropical oranges and spices, Angostura Orange Bitters are “The soul of an exceptional dry martini”
Angostura Orange Bitters
The original Angostura Aromatic Bitters were created by Dr Johann Gottlieb Benjamin Siegert, who was Surgeon General in Simon Bolivar's army in Venezuela. The drink was originally created for a use as a medicine, but survives to this day due to its wonderful richness and complexity that adds a great "extra dimension" to a drink.
Their Orange Bitters, whilst used in a similar way to the original (enhancing drinks, deserts and food), are created using their own special recipe - and don't include any of the same ingredients as the original aromatic bitters.
It's created using a complex (and secret) blend of tropical oranges and spices. Whilst the colour is clear, it has a strong orange aroma which is joined by aromatic spices. The palate is a perfect blend of sweet and bitter notes, which entice the mouth with citrus spicy flavours , ending with the subtle astringent 'bitter'.

This is a really versatile bitter, and works exceptionally well when paired with vodka, gin and whisky. However it also works in the kitchen, accompanying savoury sauces, seafood and particularly chocolate.
The original recipe for the classic Dry Martini included Orange Bitters. To create one yourself at home, take a mixing glass filled with ice and add 60ml of gin (we like a classic london dry like Tanqueray), 20ml of Dry Vermouth and 2 dashes of orange bitters. Stir well and strain into a Martini glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon peel or an olive.
