The first time that this cocktail appeared in print was in 1971, but it's origins are disputed.
One story is that a world champion mixologist named it after a surfer, whilst another story is that a marketing company created "Harvey Wallbanger" a scantily clad surfer mascot in the 1960's.
The truth may be lost in history, but this is a simple yet delicious cocktail which can easily be enjoyed at home.
45ml Vodka (we like it with Buss No.1 Platinum Vodka, but any unflavoured will work)
15ml Galliano L'Autentico Liqueur
90ml Fresh Orange Juice
In a tall glass filled with ice add the vodka and orange juice. Gently pour the Galliano on the top. Garnish with a slice of orange and a cocktail cherry.
