Six Dogs Karoo Gin

In creating their first Gin, Six Dogs took their time. Over two years in fact, and over 180 different recipes before this delicious gin was finished.

They utilise a "one shot" distillation (where all the botanicals are included in the one, and only distillation) using botanicals which are sourced in the Karoo biome (hence the name of the gin). This is the biogeographic area in which the farm, and distillery of Six Dogs is located.

A total of 12 different botanicals are used to create this classic gin, which has a big juniper forward flavour. They add Karoo thorn flower and wild lavender to give a slight floral edge, and then subtle citrus notes are introduced using limes, mandarins and farm-grown lemon buchu.

What results is a gin which is classic, but with a contemporary South-African twist. Juniper meets with the lavender is an intruiging and delicious blend, and this is followed by a citrus medley.

Perfect Serve

When first trying this gin we loved it sipped simply over ice. But it equally works well when paired with a good tonic such as Three Cents Tonic Water.

Add a few cubes of ice to a glass and pour in 50ml of the gin. Top up with 100 - 150ml of tonic, and stir gently. Garnish with a simple slice or wedge of lime.
